Vignoble du Reveur - Cremant d'Alsace Extra Brut 'Artefact'

Founded in 2013 and run by Mathieu Deiss, Vignoble du Rêveur is a young yet already highly regarded winery located in Bennwihr, in northeastern France. Nestled on quaternary gravel soils, the domaine quickly gained international recognition for its distinctive white wines, crafted using organic and biodynamic methods. Every aspect of vineyard and cellar work is guided by a commitment to quality, environmental preservation, and a deep respect for Alsatian winemaking traditions.

The Crémant d’Alsace Extra Brut ‘Artefact’ is a stunning expression of the Bennwihr terroir—a biodynamic creation that embodies the soul of Alsace through its native grape varieties. Born from the passion and vision of Mathieu Deiss(born 1984), this sparkling wine is a true labor of love, delivering a delicate yet savory palate with marked minerality, perfectly balancing richness with lightness, and finesse with energy.

The grapes for this Crémant come from renowned vineyards in Wintzenheim, Turckheim, and Eguisheim, where light, sandy soils contribute to the wine’s distinctive character. The grapes are hand-harvested, honoring ancestral traditions, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts, preserving the grape’s true identity. The wine is aged on fine lees for one year and then on laths for two more years, resulting in remarkable complexity and depth.

In the glass, ‘Artefact’ shows a pale straw-yellow color, with a delicate yet rich and natural bouquet that anticipates a broad, complex palate. Aromas of jasmine lead the floral notes, followed by pear, lemon, and redcurrant on the fruit spectrum, alongside hints of wet stone and biscuit. An elegant and thoughtful Crémant, it’s a beautiful interpretation of Alsace’s finesse through the lens of biodynamic viticulture.
