The Terroir of Verzenay, classified as Grand Cru, is characterized by a relatively cool climate, producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay renowned for their power and character. The estate’s origins date back to the 19th century: its magnificent cellars were built in 1820, and the first bottle of Champagne was crafted by Alfred Ravez in 1863. A daughter of Ravez married a Quenardel shortly before World War II, and their son Francis established Champagne Quenardel & Fils.

In 2014, the estate was acquired by the Labruyère Family, historic producers from the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, who preserved the founding principles of the house while focusing even more on quality. In Verzenay, the maison spans approximately 7 hectares of property, all classified as Grand Cru.

The company’s philosophy revolves around manual vineyard management and meticulous attention to every step of the winemaking process, with expert use of reserve wines. Each plot is vinified separately, as the Labruyère family believes that before creating Champagne, one must master the art of producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay capable of aging gracefully before being brought to market.
