Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné
Founded in 1834 in Tain-l’Hermitage in the northern Rhône Valley, Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the most historic and respected names in French winemaking. The estate has long been synonymous with excellence in the Rhône, particularly known for its iconic Hermitage La Chapelle. Since 2006, the domaine has been owned by the Frey family, who also manage Château La Lagune in Bordeaux. Under the direction of oenologist Caroline Frey, the estate has embraced organic and biodynamic viticulture, enhancing the purity and expression of its wines across the region.
Parallèle 45 Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2023, named after the 45th parallel north, which passes just south of the winery, Parallèle 45 is one of Jaboulet's most iconic and accessible wines. The 2023 vintage is a blend of Grenache and Syrah, sourced from organically farmed vineyards with an average vine age of 40 years. Aged in stainless steel and oak vats for six months on fine lees, it displays a vibrant garnet red hue. The nose offers notes of red berries, peony, and a touch of dried herbs. On the palate, it is fruit-driven with silky tannins, spice, and a smooth, elegant finish. Versatile and food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with grilled meats, vegetable dishes, or Mediterranean cuisine.
