The Etna Rosso "Aetneus" from the I Custodi Delle Vigne Dell'Etna winery expresses the strength and finesse of the Muntagna, a name that the local inhabitants affectionately address to the Sicilian volcano. It is a blend of markedly distinctive grapes of the territory, with the participation of a small part of grapes that are not strictly linked to the viticultural tradition of the place. It is a very well integrated and multifaceted mix of the characteristics of the terroir with those of the vines. A multifaceted language, in short, which focuses on the exceptional nature of an area particularly blessed for viticulture. The I Custodi Delle Vigne Dell'Etna winery knows this well and, as the name suggests, takes care of the care and protection of these lands and these vineyards. A task that is a job and also a mission, driven by a sincere and profound love for one's roots.

“Aetneus” is a red composed of a blend of 80% Nerello Mascalese, 10% Nerello Cappuccio and 10% Alicante. These grapes come from vineyards located near Castiglione di Sicilia, on the northern side of Etna, at an altitude of approximately 750 meters above sea level. The soils are sandy volcanic, rich in minerals and suitable for the cultivation of vines according to a sapling planting system. Furthermore, these are very old vineyards, reaching up to 150 years of age.

The Red “Aetneus” has an intense ruby ​​color. It is also intense on the nose, in which notes of ripe red fruit, undergrowth, and toasted notes of cocoa and tobacco stand out. In the mouth it is full and enveloping, but at the same time it is embellished with great finesse, punctuated by the typical volcanic minerality. Freshness and flavor intertwine and integrate with an elegant and velvety tannin.
