Henriet-Bazin - Cuvée Arsène Millésime 2015

The Champagne House Henriet-Bazin is located in the heart of Montagne de Reims, overseeing a vineyard of 7.76 hectares, with certain parcels classified as Premier Cru around the village of Villers-Marmery and Grand Cru around Verzy and Verzenay.

Marie-Noëlle Rainon-Henriet is now the fourth generation managing the family estate, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and biodiversity conservation. While she oversees the winemaking, her husband takes care of the vineyard work.

Marie-Noëlle Rainon-Henriet introduces the Cuvée Arsène, a Grand Cru Champagne crafted from a blend of 70% Pinot Noir from the villages of Verzy and Verzenay—specifically the parcels “Espérance” and “Voyettes”—and 30% Chardonnay from Verzy’s “Pisse Renard” parcel. This Champagne embodies the complexity of these terroirs, combining power, elegance, energy, roundness, and mineral freshness.

The vinification is parcel-specific, using only the "tête de cuvée," with the wines resting on their lees for 9 months in enameled vats, without filtration or pumping. The bottles are aged for 6 years on wooden slats before disgorgement, with a dosage of 5 g/L, classifying this as an Extra Brut.

This Champagne showcases an intense straw-yellow color with golden reflections. The bouquet is both complex and intense, revealing:

• Initial elegance: notes of peony, blackcurrant, and pomelo, reflecting the Pinot Noir's dominance.
• Generous aromas: pear, papaya, and acacia honey.
• Warm Chardonnay nuances: toasted bread, cashew nuts, and white chocolate, finishing with fresh hints of damp chalk and wild herb infusions.

On the palate, it is soft and creamy, rich in ripe yellow fruit pulp and citrus, with indulgent flavors of warm brioche, English toffee, and toasted almonds. Earthy undertones of coffee and toast emerge, all supported by a chalky backbone that leads to a long, mineral, citrusy, and saline finish.
