Charles Lachaux represents one of the most influential and visionary names of Burgundy’s new generation. Coming from a historic winemaking family based in Vosne-Romanée, he took over the vineyards of Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux alongside his father Pascal Lachaux and quickly gained worldwide recognition for his radical attention to vineyard work and terroir expression.

The family estate, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, traces its origins back to the 19th century and today cultivates some of Burgundy’s most prestigious vineyards across Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Chambolle-Musigny, and Clos de Vougeot. Charles Lachaux has become particularly renowned for his pioneering vineyard practices, including extremely high canopy training, meticulous manual work, and a low-intervention philosophy in the cellar.

Alongside the domaine, Charles also produces limited micro-négociant wines under his own name, focusing on purity, finesse, and transparency of terroir. His wines are now considered among the most sought-after expressions of modern Burgundy Pinot Noir.

Bourgogne Rouge “La Croix Blanche” 2019 is a vibrant and elegant Pinot Noir sourced from stony, well-drained soils in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. Produced with whole-cluster fermentation and aged in used oak barrels, the wine reveals refined aromas of fresh red berries, wild cherry, violet, delicate spice, and earthy mineral nuances.

On the palate, the wine is silky, energetic, and beautifully precise, with fine tannins, bright acidity, and remarkable balance. Despite its regional appellation, “La Croix Blanche” displays the finesse, purity, and complexity that have made Charles Lachaux one of Burgundy’s most admired winemakers.
