Yves Lambert, father of Arnaud, founded Domaine de Saint-Just in 1996 at the age of 47, when he decided to change his life and return to his roots in the “Terres de Saumur.” From the beginning, his ambition was to allow the unique terroirs of Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg, in the heart of the Saumur Champigny appellation, to fully express themselves through both of the region’s key grape varieties: Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc.
In 2005, Arnaud joined his father, continuing to pursue the same vision. In 2009, they began the organic conversion of their vineyards and also took over the farming (“fermage”) of eight different Clos previously managed by Château de Brézé. After eight years of running the two domaines separately, Arnaud made the decisive move to merge them, bringing together Domaine de Saint-Just—his father's original project—and Château de Brézé under a single name: Domaine Arnaud Lambert.
His motto is “to progress means to build on the past without being imprisoned by it, and to develop a sensitivity for the future.” Arnaud believes that the winemaker plays a crucial role in expressing the terroir. His wines, made from parcels in Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg and Brézé and vinified separately to respect each site’s identity, are distinctive and embody the finest qualities of Loire Valley winemaking.
The "1948 Brut Nature Crémant de Loire" by Arnaud Lambert is a distinguished sparkling wine that exemplifies the finesse and depth achievable with Chenin Blanc in the Loire Valley. Named after the year its vines were planted, this cuvée reflects a legacy of meticulous viticulture and winemaking. In the glass, it presents a golden yellow hue. The nose is expressive yet elegant, offering aromas of citrus peel, quince, and subtle earthy notes reminiscent of mushrooms. On the palate, it balances richness and tension, delivering a dense, mineral character complemented by a delicate, creamy effervescence. The finish is long and linear, marked by pronounced chalkiness and a pure lemon zest, culminating in a saline touch.
