Alain Geoffroy - Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru 2023

Domaine Alain Geoffroy is a historic family-run estate in Chablis, Burgundy, established in 1850. Located in the village of Beine, the domaine cultivates 45 hectares of vineyards on Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in marine fossils, characteristic of the region. The winery is known for its traditional winemaking methods, emphasizing the pure expression of terroir through stainless steel fermentation to preserve freshness and minerality. 

Alain Geoffroy Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume 2023 is crafted from 100% Chardonnay grapes sourced from the renowned Fourchaume Premier Cru vineyard, situated on south-facing slopes that benefit from optimal sun exposure. The vines, aged between 25 and 45 years, thrive in Kimmeridgian limestone soils, imparting distinctive minerality to the wine.Vinification is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by aging on fine lees, allowing the wine to develop complexity while maintaining its crisp character. 

In the glass, this wine displays a pale gold hue with greenish reflections. The nose offers elegant aromas of white flowers, freshly baked brioche, and subtle vegetal notes. On the palate, it reveals power and richness balanced by finesse and freshness, culminating in a long, persistent finish. With an alcohol content of 13%, it pairs beautifully with seafood dishes such as grilled langoustines in basil butter, scallop skewers with fresh spinach salad, or a peach salad with Chablis sabayon and pistachio brioche. This Premier Cru can be enjoyed now or cellared for up to 10 years to further enhance its complexity.
